Program Director and Open Rank Faculty in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership Overview

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Graduate School of Business and Leadership (GSBL) at National Louis University seeks a dynamic, energetic, student-centered leader as Program Director for its graduate programs in Higher Education Leadership and Student Affairs Leadership. We seek a colleague with experience as a higher education leader and faculty, who understands how to navigate and translate the higher education environment pragmatically to help institutions remain viable and relevant. The successful candidate will ensure the curriculum is problem-based and experiential, challenging students to address real-world issues. This is a 12-month, open-rank administrative Professional Practice faculty position (non-tenured). Rank will be determined based on experience. Responsibilities include program administration, teaching graduate courses in multiple modalities, staffing, curriculum development, assessment, and student support. The candidate will also supervise doctoral work and lead the transformation of the Higher Education Leadership Program into an executive format, focusing on practical experience and skills. Additionally, they will coordinate the launch and management of a new Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. About the Graduate School of Business and Leadership NLU offers nine Master’s programs, an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership, and a Doctorate of Business Administration. The program director plays a key role in student success and academic excellence. Essential Responsibilities Teaching: Deliver master's and doctoral courses in Higher Education Leadership, both in person and online. Passion for Student Success: Contribute to improving student engagement, retention, graduation, and career outcomes; advise students; promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Program and Course Assessment, Maintenance, and Development: Redesign and assess the program and courses, ensure quality standards, and lead continuous improvement efforts. Program Leadership: Lead and monitor the success of the programs, support enrollment and retention, oversee faculty, and represent the program externally. Collaborate with the enrollment team to grow the program’s reputation and reach. Qualifications Earned Ed.D. or equivalent in Higher Education or related field. Minimum five years of professional practice in administrative or executive roles. Research experience with publications or presentations. Effective teaching record in higher education, including online/hybrid formats. Commitment to diversity, student success, and professional advising. Experience in learning outcomes assessment and technology use in teaching. Professional memberships relevant to higher education.
