Provides special medical and surgical care to Boys Town National Research Hospital patients and referral patients. Provides direct medical and surgical care and participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary clinic teams. Major responsibilities include providing direct specialty pediatric gastroenterology care to Hospital patients; serving as a medical member of the multi-disciplinary evaluation and remediation team with special responsibility for the care of children with digestive system problems at Boys Town National Research Hospital inpatient unit or the pediatric ambulatory care units; designing and conducting clinical and/or basic research projects in area of specialty as approved by the Director, Boys Town National Research Hospital; cooperating with other Hospital staff members in the conduct of clinical and/or basic research projects; participating in and/or conducting various educational programs developed by Boys Town National Research Hospital in undergraduate and graduate medicine, continuing education, nursing, and related allied health fields; participating in the development of program/project objectives, sub-objectives, and staffing needs for the medical program; undertaking special projects as directed by the Director. Required qualifications include Doctor of Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school, certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and in gastroenterology and nutrition from the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-board in Pediatric Gastroenterology, medical licensure in the State of Nebraska, qualification for Creighton University Medical School faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and clinical hospital privileges, minimum of three years pediatric residency training and additional training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition including medical research and treatment of infants, children, and teens with digestive, liver, and nutritional disorders. The position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.
