DRT MPS is looking to add a Production Scheduler to our team! This is a 1st shift position at our facility in Dayton, OH. DRT is the leader in metal packaging solutions for the canning industry. Focusing on quality and innovation.

SUMMARY:

The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, releasing, and managing production schedules that align with customer demand, material availability, and shop capacity. This role supports the Production Control Manager and helps ensure timely, accurate, and efficient production flow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain production schedules using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Release and manage work orders in line with production priorities.
  • Coordinate with Production Supervisors to communicate schedules and address work order issues.
  • Maintain accurate ERP system data including BOM changes, ECN reworks, and part master updates.
  • Expedite critical work orders and resolve material shortages.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for key materials (e.g., electrodes, fixtures, blanks).
  • Analyze schedule data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Support system-related corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to scheduling and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and other departments to ensure alignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in production scheduling or related supply chain role.
  • Experience with ERP systems (BAAN, LN, JobBOSS, Factory Track, SAP) required.
  • Strong PC skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and scheduling tools.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing workflows; ability to interpret blueprints is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions. Uses simple formulae, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules. Checks reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge. REASONING ABILITY: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
