DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Foreman, the Street Department Supervisor oversees daily operations, scheduling, and crew assignments within the Street Department. This role also assists the Sanitation Department as needed and assumes Foreman responsibilities in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct departmental crews, ensuring efficiency and safety.


• Plan and oversee projects, including material procurement and task assignments.


• Analyze and recommend improvements for facilities, equipment, and operational programs. Schedule and coordinate maintenance and repairs of departmental equipment.


• Respond to emergency call-outs and ensure prompt resolution. Develop, implement, and enforce safety procedures for crew members. Maintain accurate records of inventory, time, and materials.


• Ensure compliance with city policies and procedures.


• Assist with Sanitation Department operations and receive cross-training to support its functions. Serve as acting Foreman when necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.


• Extensive experience in street maintenance, repair, and construction. Supervisory experience preferred.


• Strong knowledge of street repair methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions. Effective planning, organizing, and leadership skills.


• Ability to instruct and supervise departmental crews effectively. Proficiency in written communication for reports and correspondence. Capability to work in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

• State of Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with Tanker Endorsement or the willingness and ability to obtain the license through the City's in-house CDL Entry-Level Training Program within one year of employment.


• Availability for first, second, or third shift during 24-hour operations.
