Accountant (Forensics) Job Opening

This position advertised has been exempted from the federal civilian hiring freeze. Open to all U.S. citizens. The position is an Accountant (Forensics) with a job code of 59469. It is available in all field office divisions and locations. The working hours are from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm, and the salary ranges from GS 11: $63,163.00 to $82,108.00 and GS 12: $75,106.00 to $98,422.00. The full performance level is GS 12, and multiple positions are available. This is a full-time/permanent position.

Key requirements include being a U.S. citizen, obtaining a Top Secret-SCI clearance, completing the FD-887, some travel may be required, and verification of college transcripts by the closing date. Selectees will also attend a mandatory five-week Forensic Accountant Core Training Session held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution of the United States. Major duties include providing knowledge of accounting and financial practices, conducting forensic analysis of financial data, assessing the value of financial evidence, utilizing computer applications to review financial transactions, producing detailed financial investigative reports, and developing forensic accounting presentations.

Qualifications and evaluations will be based on specialized experience and education. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements by the closing date. The FBI's Candidate Rating Procedures will be used to evaluate and rate applications. High self-assessment in the vacancy questions that is not supported by information in the resume may eliminate you from Most Competitive status.

The position requires a degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting or a combination of education and experience. Specialized experience includes performing examination and analysis over several financial investigative or audit areas and providing knowledge of various accounting and financial practices. Education may substitute for specialized experience as specified.
