Canewater Farm is an organic vegetable and flower farm in beautiful Teton Valley, Idaho. Using low-till practices, we grow healthy food for the communities of Victor, Driggs, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our 13-acre farm includes 8 acres of field production, along with outbuildings, pasture, two hoop houses, and two greenhouses. We proudly supply 20 restaurants, 3 local groceries, 2 online markets, and 3 weekly farmers markets. Located just a few miles from Victor at the base of Teton Pass, our area offers world-class skiing, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, climbing and more. As a family farm, our team includes one farmer/owner, one manager, five crew members, and some amazing volunteers—not to mention two kiddos! Job Overview As Farm Manager you will play a vital role in leading the crew, managing daily operations, and gaining the skills needed to eventually manage the farm independently. This position is demanding but highly rewarding, ideal for someone passionate about farming, leadership, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Farm Operations Lead and motivate a crew of 4 employees plus volunteers in daily work tasks. Manage the greenhouse seeding and field planting schedule. Clearly explain tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage daily field operations. Ensure the crew stays on task and efficient, consulting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed. Serve as the point person for problem-solving and maintaining team morale. Oversee the plan and management of the weekly harvest schedule. Maintain farm equipment and tools; proficiency in tractor operation and equipment maintenance is required. Keep work and storage areas clean and organized. Maintain thorough records on our iPad of all farm activities including plantings, cultivations, and harvest for Organic Certification Protocols. Manage overhead irrigation & drip systems, planning weekly irrigation schedules. Manage insect and weed control, soil fertility monitoring, and general field observation. Perform tractor work and maintain equipment; must have proficient tractor skills. Oversee the annual crop plan, harvest, post-harvest, and delivery. Leadership and Communication Manage a crew of 4 employees plus volunteers in daily work tasks. Act as the HR liaison for the crew by conducting check-ins, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive team culture. Organize team-building activities, such as seasonal cookouts. Maintain open and honest communication with both the crew and management to address issues promptly. Expectations Leadership: Inspire others, take charge when needed, and actively listen to feedback. Work Ethic: Approach every task with a positive attitude, set an example for the crew, and consistently be the first in and last out. Commitment: Work the most hours on the farm and embrace this responsibility with enthusiasm and resilience. Communication: Maintain clear and honest communication with the crew and management to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues quickly. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Rate: DOE Housing: Free on-farm housing Veggies: Free farm-fresh vegetables throughout the season. End-of-Season Bonus: $1 per hour worked, contingent on completing the entire season. Vacation Days: 5 paid vacation days (9 hours/day), which can be taken at once or spread out with prior approval. Sick Days: Unpaid and do not count toward vacation days. Additional Responsibilities Weekend Duties Oversee the farm 1 weekend per month, which involves watering the greenhouse and opening hoophouses. This is rotated with the crew all summer, allowing for a full weekend of fun. Ensure tasks are completed if plans fall through; this is a key responsibility. Market Representation Participate in some Friday and Saturday markets. Attendance at Wednesday and Friday markets; details can be discussed based on your preferences and availability. Season Timeline Start Date: ASAP End Date: October 31, 2025; as farm manager, you will stay until all final tasks are completed and the farm is winter-ready.
