Under the direction of the Crime Analyst Supervisor (CA Sup), the CA I’s primary responsibilities involve tasks related to the Secondhand Dealer and Pawnbroker Licensing workload. The CA I responds to phone calls, monitors emails, and processes incoming mail and licensing fees, including checks and money orders. The CA I enters payment information into the California Pawnbroker and Secondhand Dealer System (CAPSS) and maintains documentation for the Department of Justice (DOJ) Accounting Office. The CA I assists law enforcement agencies (LEA), store owners, and administrators with CAPSS support, tracks system errors in the "Jira" application and performs database testing. The CA I generates licensing reports and updates publications on the California Law Enforcement Web and the Attorney General’s website. Additionally, the CA I assists the Automated Property Unit (APU) and Stolen Vehicle Unit (SVU) with quality control, including data monitoring, reviewing program publications, and conduct system testing. They collaborate with program staff and client agencies to ensure compliance with state and federal policies.

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
